A week ago I had the liberty to test a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L lens on my 7D.
A fellow colleague also doing photography has a 50D and a 60D, but more importantly the famous general 24-70mm. So I asked if I could try it out, because I want a general zoom and I’m stuck between the Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS and the 24-70mm f/2.8.
After trying it out, I have to say this lens gives nice bokeh for a f/2.8, nice colours and most important sharp! I was afraid the pictures would be blurry because it does not have IS, extremely heavy and I was shaking a lot when taking pictures.
Below some pictures I took! Just need to try the Canon 17-55…
An almost 100% crop here… Not too bad!

Sweet! That lens looks like a nice sharp one, the lack of IS can make you feel hesitant I gather though. Then again, lenses like the 50mm prime you (and I) use don’t have IS either. Choices, choices!
Dilemma’s! I hate them lol
Damn, good pictures. But I need a shave and wear mine sunglasses more often at work…
Nice pictures man! Looks like you really don’t need IS after all, right?
Thanks! Yeah, it does look like I don’t need IS afterall despite being so retarded heavy with batterygrip and all. Maybe the 50mm helped me being more steady
I really didn’t expected to be so sharp, because everything was shot handheld and I was not really holding it still. All of them are sharp at least 50% crop and around 2/3 are sharp at 100% crop. Although I don’t crop often but it is nice to know that you can crop that much without worry to much XD
